Covid blessings

The prophet has asked us to write what we have learned from this pandemic and what we hope to never forget. We all learned to be more resilient as we waited on the Lord and trusted in him. One of the greatest blessings for me has come in the form of family history work. Thanks to the help of an angelic sister in our previous ward, I was blest to find dozens of family names. Participating in the work of salvation brings indescribable peace and joy no matter what is going on in the world. My children have helped prepare and print these names to take to the temple as soon as it opens. I had a daughter baptized and a son receive the priesthood. I was able to partake of the sacrament in my own home from the hand of my husband and my newly ordained son. My husband has worked from home for over a year and is no longer commuting 2 hours each day which has allowed us to share family meals and time together.  I have spent more time with my children and in nature than ever before. I have learned that the family really is the most fundamental and essential unit in society. I joined an emotional resilience class and then facilitated the same class. The pandemic has forced us to learn more emotional management skills and to teach them to our children. We have taken steps to be more prepared spiritually, emotionally and temporally. Temporally we were able to save more than usual years. We were also blessed to buy our first home with the guidance of the spirit and as a result of yet more miracles. I have learned humility and the need for constant personal revelation and guidance to get through each day. We have reevaluated as a family which activities are worthy of our time. I have gained a deeper appreciation for the guidance of a living prophet. My appreciation for community, connection and belonging have also increased. I have learned to focus on what is truly “essential” and for me that is God, family, and friendships.
